Big Rig rolls into town on June 11

LAKEVILLE — The community field behind the Patco convience store will be overrun with giant vehicles for the Big Rig Event Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.“We’re excited to have the community join us for our second Big Rig,” said Kate Dziedzic, director of Housatonic Child Care Center, which is putting on the event as a fundraiser. “And we’re so grateful for the community’s support.”Trucks, big rigs, firetrucks, race cars, police cars, tractors, cherry pickers and front-end loaders will be available to climb on and explore. The Lakeville Hose Company will sell food and there will be pony rides, face painting and more. There will be a requested $5 donation entry fee per person, with children under 2 free. Proceeds will benefit the Housatonic Child Care Center. For more information, call the center at 860-435-9694.

SHARON — Sharon Dennis Rosen, 83, died on Aug. 8, 2025, in New York City.

Born and raised in Sharon, Connecticut, she grew up on her parents’ farm and attended Sharon Center School and Housatonic Valley Regional High School. She went on to study at Skidmore College before moving to New York City, where she married Dr. Harvey Rosen and together they raised two children.

There is a scene in “The King of In Between,” a documentary about musician Garland Jeffreys, that shows his name as the answer to a question on the TV show “Jeopardy!”

“This moment was the film in a nutshell,” said Claire Jeffreys, the film’s producer and director, and Garland’s wife of 40 years. “Nobody knows the answer,” she continued. “So, you’re cool enough to be a Jeopardy question, but you’re still obscure enough that not one of the contestants even had a glimmer of the answer.”
