Car accident results in injuries

NORFOLK — Two people were injured in a three-car accident that took place on Greenwoods Road in Norfolk on Monday, June 13.

According to the accident report written by State Police Officer Rafael Figueiral, Sharon resident Guillermo Morales, 19, was driving his 2001 Volkswagen Jetta down Route 44 westbound, 100 feet east of the intersection of Tim O’Connor Road.

A Toyota Corolla driven by Winsted resident Zuleyka Rodriguez-Garcia, 27, was traveling directly behind Morales.

Driving eastbound on Route 44 was San Antonio, Texas, resident Sarah Munley, 72, who was driving a 2012 Toyota Prius.

According to Figueiral, Munley lost control of her car when she drifted into the westbound lane, sideswiping Morales.

Munley continued travelling east in the westbound lane and hit Rodriguez-Garcia head on.

Both Rodriguez-Garcia and Munley were flown to Hartford Hospital due to suspected serious injuries, while Morales was not injured.

All three drivers were reported alert and conscious after the accident, with Rodriguez-Garcia’s and Munley cars towed to George’s Automotive due to heavy front-end damage.

The accident remains under investigation by the State Police.
