Carol Fisher-Woodworth

SHEFFIELD — Carol Fisher-Woodworth, 66, died Dec. 7, 2009, at the Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, Fla. She was born in Newton, Mass., and lived in Sheffield, Mass., before moving to Palm City, Fla. She was the widow of Alfred Woodworth.  

She owned her own bakery for many years, specializing in homemade breads, soups and pies. She also worked at Bradford House Antiques and specialized in old books until her retirement three years ago.

She is survived by her father, Alan Carlson of Palm City; her sons, Eric of Sheffield and Robert of Liblurn, Ga.; a stepson, Jamie Woodworth of Morrison, Colo.; her brothers, David of Palm City and Peter of Westford, Mass.; a sister, Sarah of Lebanon, Conn.; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Doris.

There will be a memorial service Sunday,  Jan. 24, at noon at Dewey Hall in Sheffield.Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E. Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997.

The school's girls and boys teams were named league champions after finishing the regular season with the best win/loss records. Winning the tournaments earned each team a plaque and added to the program's success in 2025.

Día de los Muertos marks a bittersweet farewell for Race Brook Lodge

On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield will celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead: El Día de los Muertos.

Mexican Day of the Dead takes place the first weekend of November and honors los difuntos (the deceased) with ofrendas (offerings) on an altar featuring photos of loved ones who have passed on. Elements of earth, wind, fire and water are represented with food, papel picada (colorful decorative paper), candles and tequila left for the beloved deceased. The departed are believed to travel from the spirit world and briefly join the living for a night of remembrance and revelry.
