Celebrating the end of summer

NEW HARTFORD — On Sunday, Aug. 23, at Brodie Park, the town’s Recreation Department hosted its celebration of the last day of the park’s summer camp.

This year, the community was invited to the celebration.

“This is my first year as recreation director and this is the first year that we invited all of the members of the community,” new Recreation Director Christy Tellier said. “The other years we just did it at pick-up time, but today the parents are coming here just for this, as well as the rest of the community.”

Christy Tellier’s former husband, Ed Tellier, was also present at the event, flipping burgers for attendees and speaking of his past marriage.

“I’ve done this a couple of times, because I love to grill!” Ed Tellier said. “Me and my ex-wife get along very well. She kept her name and we still work together. Not many other small town communities do this, you never see it.”

The event drew more than 200 attendees.
