Celinda (Allyn) Lockwood

BANTAM — Celinda “Cindy� (Allyn) Lockwood, 45, of Bantam lost her six-year battle with cancer on Sunday, April 18, 2010. She was the wife of David Lockwood.

Cindy was born March 30, 1965, in Great Barrington, Mass., daughter of Karen (Stiles) Brusie and Ross Allyn. She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School, class of 1983. A veteran of the United States Air Force, she served for 10 years, during which time she had flown on Medvac and obtained the rank of sergeant. She later worked at Becton Dickinson & Co. for 12 years.

 Cindy loved cat shows and will be remembered by many as a kind and caring person.

She was the loving mother of Shaun Jordan and Courtney Lockwood and loving stepmother of Sarah, Jessica, Ryan and Alex Lockwood.

In addition, Cindy is survived by her mother’s husband, Jerry Brusie; her father’s wife, Janice Allyn; a stepbrother, Tim Brusie and his wife, Karin; her father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Lillian Lockwood; three sisters-in-law, Char Colvin and her husband, Randy, Lisa Lockwood and Wendy Faulenbach and her husband, Peter; a brother-in-law, Tim Lockwood; a special cousin, Reneé Slonaker; Uncle Ricky; Grandma “G.G.â€�; Kim Marola; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Brian Lockwood.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for the wonderful care Cindy received.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Paul’s Church, 802 Bantam Road, Bantam. Burial with military honors will follow in East Cemetery, Litchfield. Friends and family may call on Friday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield.

'Sylvia' brings heart, humor and one unforgettable dog to Sharon Playhouse stage

What if the dog onstage was played by a person? That’s the delightful twist in A.R. Gurney’s “Sylvia,” opening at the Sharon Playhouse on Aug. 29. In this clever and heartfelt comedy, the title character — a stray pup who disrupts the lives of a married couple — is portrayed not in costume but by an actor who brings insight, charm, and chaos to the role.

Stepping into Sylvia’s paws is Jen Cody, who is returning to the Sharon Playhouse in a starring role for her third year in a row, ready to bring this spirited dog to life. She’s joined by Jonathan Walker as Greg, the middle-aged man smitten with his new four-legged friend, and Jennifer Van Dyck as Kate, his wife, whose patience and identity are tested by Sylvia’s sudden presence in their home.
