Crate Escape coming to Stewart’s

PINE PLAINS — Crate Escape, an animal shelter located in Hopewell Junction, will hold an adoption event sponsored by Stewart’s in Pine Plains on Saturday, Dec. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m.“Stewart’s is very kind and sponsoring the event along with Dale Mitchell, who is allowing us to set up on the Gardener’s Green, which he owns, that is adjacent to Stewart’s. We were originally setting up at the Stewart’s location, but they have some construction going on. The entrance for the Gardener’s Green is the same as Stewart’s, so we’re still right there with them,” said Laura Clark, a networker for Crate Escape.Stewart’s and the adjacent Gardener’s Green are located at 9130 South Main St.The event will host 10 to 15 dogs, ranging in age from puppies to seniors, who are looking for homes.“Crate Escape rescues dogs from high-kill shelters as well as accepting dogs surrendered to them. They are the most professional shelter I’ve been fortunate to work with,” she said. The event will also include balloon animals and face painting for children and an opportunity to donate if patrons are not able to adopt but would like to help.“The process is very simple. If you find a dog that you’d like to adopt you will fill out an application. Then you will be interviewed by one of the shelter owners. If everything is in order, you could take home a dog that very day,” said Clark. The adoption fee for the dogs ranges from $300 to $350.“The fee is all inclusive. The dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on shots and microchipped,” she said.Crate Escape owners and operators Lisa and Heather Pensabene will be on site along with Clark to answer any questions and aid in the adoption process.“We’re happy to be coming to Pine Plains. This is going to be a great event for all ages and a wonderful way to find some good homes for these dogs who are in such need,” said Clark.
