Crawford Robert 'Gus' Bryant

ANCRAM — Crawford Robert Bryant, 78, of Wiltsie Bridge Road, died Nov. 6, 2010, at Noble Horizons.

He was born March 17, 1932, in Ancramdale, a son of the late Bertha M. (Waldorf) and Harold R. Bryant.

Affectionately known as Gus to his family and many friends, he was a lifelong area resident. A proud dairy farmer, Gus was the owner and operator of the Smokey Hollow Farm in Ancram, where he took great pride in his family, farming and his animals and land.

He also had a great interest in raising harness horses, which he raced throughout the Northeast. Gus was a longtime member of the Empire Driving Club and a member of the former Cat, Coon and Fox Club.

He was an avid bowler and outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting.

Mr. Bryant was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ancram and in his younger years was affiliated with the Luther League at the church.

On Feb. 22, 1964, in Livingston, N.Y., he married Carol Ann Jenks Bryant, who survives him at home in Ancram. Also surviving are his three daughters and their spouses, Lori and Aiden Keilty, Amy and Gerald Boice and Kimberly and Jim Cooper, all of Ancram. Additionally, he leaves his grandchildren, Katie Lorraine Keilty, Casey Mariah Keilty, Crawford John Boice, Leslie Elizabeth Boice, Sydney Yvonne Cooper and Dawson James Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Harold Martin Bryant, Lee R. Bryant, Joyce Roche and the Rev. Sherwood Bryant.

Arrangements are under the care of the Peck & Peck Funeral Home in Pine Plains.

A funeral service was held Nov. 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ancram, the Rev. Mark Frickey officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains.

Memorial contributions may be offered to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ancram, NY 12502.
