Diana M. Ghi

NORTH CANAAN — Diana M. Ghi, 51, of Ashley Falls Road died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Friday, July 19, 2019, in Goshen.  

She was born July 9, 1968, at the former Winsted Hospital, daughter of Jill (Stackpole) Ghi and the late Anthony A. Ghi.  She was a life long resident of the town of North Canaan.

Diana was employed at Stadium Systems and worked for the North Canaan Board of Finance for many years. She also had worked as a waitress in a variety of restaurants throughout the Northwest Corner. 

Diana graduated from North Canaan Elementary School and Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1986. She then attended the Catherine Gibbs School in Norwalk. 

Diana had a great love and appreciation of animals. She was a kind, caring and helpful friend to many people. Diana enjoyed cooking family meals from recipes lovingly handed down from her Italian grandmother. Diana always looked forward to summer vacations by the lake in Harrison, Maine, where she spent special times with family, attending church dinners and potluck suppers.

In addition to her mother, Jill, Diana is survived by her uncle and godfather, Joe Scelza; her two brothers, Frank Ghi and his children, Jordan, Samantha, Francesca and Alexis, and Philip Ghi and his wife, Maria, and their children, Dominic and Lily.  She is also survived by family members living in California and Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday July 27, at 11 a.m. in St. Martin of Tours Parish Immaculate Conception Church, 4 North St., Norfolk.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery on Cemetery Road in North Canaan.  

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan.  

Donation’s in Diana’s memory may be made to the Alumnae Association of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing (HHSN), 560 Hudson St., Hartford, CT 06106.

SALISBURY — About 30 people turned out for the traditional Veterans Day ceremony at Salisbury Town Hall on a cold and snowy Tuesday morning, Nov. 11.

Chris Ohmen handled the colors and Chris Williams ran the ceremony.

North Canaan gives gratitude to veterans

NORTH CANAAN — Students at North Canaan Elementary School saluted servicemen and servicewomen at a Veterans Day ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Eighteen veterans were honored, many of whom attended the ceremony and were connected to the school as relatives of students or staff.

When longtime arts administrator Amy Wynn became the first executive director of the American Mural Project (AMP) in 2018, the nonprofit was part visionary art endeavor, part construction site and part experiment in collaboration.

Today, AMP stands as a fully realized arts destination, home to the world’s largest indoor collaborative artwork and a thriving hub for community engagement. Wynn’s departure, marked by her final day Oct. 31, closes a significant chapter in the organization’s evolution. Staff and supporters gathered the afternoon before to celebrate her tenure with stories, laughter and warm tributes.
