Donna G. Kaplan

MILLBROOK — Donna G. Kaplan, 73, a 29-year resident of Millbrook, died July 14, 2018, at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.  

Born May 16, 1945, in Mahopac, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Stella (Valyou) and William Miller. Following high school she attended college and received training in the dental care field. Donna worked for Dr. Howard Friedman DDS in Red Oaks Mills, N.Y.

In her spare time, Donna enjoyed gardening and cooking and picture puzzles, and was an avid reader. She will always be remembered for her kind and caring nature and her thoughtfulness when helping family and friends. She will be dearly missed by her entire family.

Donna is survived by her beloved partner of 29 years, Sal Carrubba of Millbrook; two loving brothers, Al Andrews and his wife, Beth, of Millerton and Roger Miller; and her sister, Esther Gray, and her husband, David. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, William F. and Kenneth R. Miller.

There are no calling hours. Private graveside services and burial will take place in Millerton at a later date. 

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hudson Valley Hospice or the Dutchess County SPCA. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home in Millerton.

FALLS VILLAGE — Housatonic Valley Regional High School varsity baseball won big at home Wednesday, April 16, with a 15-3 win against Terryville High School.

Housatonic performed well on both sides of the ball. Offensively, HVRHS batters combined for 12 RBIs and seven stolen bases.

NWCT Arts Council: Spring fundraiser

On Saturday, April 26, the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council will host a special evening, Arts Connected, their spring fundraiser celebrating the power of creativity and community. Held at the Bryan Memorial Town Hall in Washington Depot from 5 to 8 p.m., this event brings together artists, performers, and neighbors for a magical night filled with inspiration, connection and joy.

Award-winning designer and arts advocate Diane von Furstenberg and her granddaughter Antonia Steinberg are honorary co-chairs of the event. Their shared love of the arts informs the spirit of the evening.
