Football begins Sept.14, with Richardson as coach

FALLS VILLAGE — The Housatonic Valley Regional High School football team will open the 2015 season on Monday, Sept. 14, vs. Bullard Havens Tech. This will be the second straight season that the Mountaineers compete at the junior varsity level in a program rebuild due to declining roster numbers.

The 2014 season, the first of the rebuilding era, was extremely successful as former Housy Athletic Director Dave Bayersdorfer led the Mountaineers to a 6-2 overall record.

Housy lost several players from last season to graduation. However, the team does return a number of key contributors on both offense and defense. Longtime team Assistant Coach Doug Richardson will take over as head coach for the 2015 season.

The Mountaineers will play a scrimmage on Thursday, Sept. 3, vs. Wolcott Tech before the Sept. 14 season opener.
