Gladys R. Rockefeller

MILLERTON — Gladys R. Rockefeller, 88, a 70-year resident of Millerton, died at Sharon Health Care Center on Oct. 2, 2012, with her family by her side. Born Jan. 19, 1924, in Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Buelah (Hatch) and Calvin Odell. She attended Massachusetts area schools and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Millerton.On May 30, 1942, in Millerton, she married Harold Robert Rockefeller. Mr. Rockefeller died in April 1992. Mrs. Rockefeller was an avid painter who also enjoyed crocheting, dancing and country music. She was also a very spiritual woman and enjoyed spending time with her loving family. Mrs. Rockefeller is survived by her daughter, Caroline Burke, of Millerton; a son, Robert Rockefeller of South Kent; three grandchildren, Donna Burke and Gary Burke of Canton, Conn., and Daniel Burke of Millerton; three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Joshua Burke of Canton and Athena Burke of Millerton; and several nieces and nephews and many friends.In addition to her husband and her parents she was predeceased by seven siblings. Calling hours were held on Oct. 5 at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home in Millerton. Funeral services followed at the funeral home, the Rev. Zora Cheetham officiating. FALLS VILLAGE — Housatonic Valley Regional High School varsity baseball won big at home Wednesday, April 16, with a 15-3 win against Terryville High School.

Housatonic performed well on both sides of the ball. Offensively, HVRHS batters combined for 12 RBIs and seven stolen bases.

On Saturday, April 26, the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council will host a special evening, Arts Connected, their spring fundraiser celebrating the power of creativity and community. Held at the Bryan Memorial Town Hall in Washington Depot from 5 to 8 p.m., this event brings together artists, performers, and neighbors for a magical night filled with inspiration, connection and joy.

Award-winning designer and arts advocate Diane von Furstenberg and her granddaughter Antonia Steinberg are honorary co-chairs of the event. Their shared love of the arts informs the spirit of the evening.
