Heavy metal hits the Green Room

WINSTED — It was all about loud, ear-shattering, angry and emotional heavy metal music on Saturday, Feb. 25, when The Elements Around Me played at The Green Room. The band, which includes members from Winsted and Torrington, played before a 30-person standing-room-only audience.Songs including “Bury Yours” and “Into The Ages” were played as audience members slam-danced and moshed inside the restaurant. On its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/theelementsaroundme, the band describes itself as “–a team of down-to- earth, fun loving, hard working, dedicated musicians all striving for the same thing: audible domination!”Band leader Jesse Hunter said the music scene in Winsted is taking off in popularity.“It was quiet for awhile, but I do see things happening with it right now,” Hunter said. “Hopefully more things will happen with it. We like playing in town because you don’t have to travel too far to play.”The band has just been signed to Fivebyfive Records in Ontario, Canada, and hopes to play more local shows.
