Jane (Vernik) Henry

PINE PLAINS — Jane (Vernik) Henry, 61, of McKee, Ky., died peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2011, in Destin, Fla., while vacationing with family and friends. Jane had battled cancer for the past several years.She was the wife of Patrick Henry of McKee.Born on March 28, 1950, in Monroe, Conn., and raised in Sharon Springs, N.Y., she was the daughter of Thaddeus Vernik of Dunnellon, Fla., and the late Marie Swendsen Vernik. Jane spent the greater part of her adult life in the Austin, Texas, area, where she was a successful insurance agent and antique shop business owner before her retirement to McKee. She was also a very active gardener and landscaper and loved to be outdoors. She had been a resident of McKee with her husband, Pat, since 2003.In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her aunts, Marge Derle of Monroe and Bernice Joyce of Lake Worth, Fla.; her uncle, John Swendsen of Torrington; a son, John Heiser and his wife, Lacie, of Latham, N.Y.; two sisters, Mary Cary and her husband, Steven, of Pine Plains and Sally Angelica of Austin; two granddaughters, Hannah and Skyler Heiser; six nieces and nephews, Ann Cary, Alex Cary and his wife, Brandy, Greta Cary and Rachel Cary, and Renee and Victor Angelica.A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

The Mountaineers are the highest seeded team of the four schools remaining in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class S playoff bracket.
