Karen Blanch Peart


SHARON - Karen Blanch Peart, 37, of Sharon Station Road died at her home Jan. 10, 2008, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Nancy Howard Cherry of Kent and Thomas H. Peart Sr. of New Milford.

Karen was born in New Milford on Feb. 23, 1970. She was a graduate of Kent Center School and Oliver Wolcott School in Torrington. For many years she was a nurses aide for the Sharon Health Care Center. She was an avid gardener.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children, Kristen Nelson, Jacquelyn Nelson, Bryant Nelson and Valerie Nelson, all of Sharon; a brother, Thomas Peart Jr. of Wingdale, N.Y.; a stepfather, Jim Cherry of Kent; and a stepmother, Karen Peart of New Milford.

All services were private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen Peart Scholarship Fund c/o Nancy Peart, 187 Kent Cornwall Road, Cornwall, CT 06757.

The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon has care of arrangements.

Developers withdraw application to expand Wake Robin Inn

LAKEVILLE — Aradev LLC has withdrawn its application to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a special permit to redevelop the Wake Robin Inn.

In a letter submitted to P&Z Chair Michael Klemens on the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 17, law outfit Mackey, Butts & Whalen LLP announced its client’s withdrawal.

"What I really feel lucky about is having had the chance to meet and photograph so many people who had a real impact on our lives,” said Christopher Little whose new memoir, “Shooting the Breeze: Memories of a Photojournalist” was just released. The book is as eclectic and colorful as the man himself and offers an intimate look into Little’s globe-trotting career spent behind the lens, capturing some of the most iconic figures, events, and human stories of the past half-century.

In 2021, the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at The University of Texas acquired Little’s photographic archive.
