TOWN OF NORTH CANAAN

CONNECTICUT

Notice is hereby given to all taxpayers of the Town of North Canaan, Connecticut that the first installment of taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2017 will become due and payable on July 1, 2017 and will become delinquent if not paid on or before August 1, 2017. Tax bills of $100 or less are due in full on or before August 1, 2017. Tax bills over $100 are payable in two installments, the first by August 1, 2017 and the second by February 1, 2018. 

As soon as any tax becomes delinquent, it shall be subject to interest at the rate of one and one-half percent of such tax for each month or fraction thereof which elapses from the time when such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid. The minimum interest charge will be $2.00. 

The Tax Collector’s Office is located in the Town Hall at 100 Pease Street, North Canaan, Connecticut. During the month of July we will be open: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-12 and 1-4 p.m., Monday July 3 & July 31st  9-12 and 1-4 p.m. Payments may be mailed to Tax Collector, 100 Pease St. # 4, North Canaan, Connecticut 06018. Drop box located in front of Town Hall. Pay online at www.northcanaan.org. pay Aug.1st. Please bring in or mail bill with payment. The State has not set a budget and our Town budget has not passed, therefore we will send bills with last year’s Mill rate then a supplemental bill when these are set.

TAX COLLECTOR’S NOTICE 

TOWN OF CANAAN

Pursuant to Sec. 12-145 of the Connecticut statutes, the undersigned Tax Collector of the Town of Canaan gives notice that she will be ready to receive Motor Vehicle taxes and the first installment of Real Estate & Personal Property taxes due July 1, 2017 at the Tax Collector’s office in the Canaan Town Hall, 108 Main St, Falls Village, CT on Monday’s 9am-3pm and Wednesday 9 am -12 pm. Payments must be received or postmarked by August 1, 2017 to avoid interest. 

All taxes remaining unpaid after August 1, 2017 will be charged interest from July 1, 2017 at the rate of 1.5% for each month elapsing from the due date of the delinquent tax to the date of payment, with a minimum interest charge of $2.00. Sec. 12-146.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer of his/her responsibility for the payment of taxes or delinquent charges. Sec. 12-130.

TOWN OF SALISBURY CT

The taxpayers of the Town of Salisbury are hereby notified that I have received the Warrant and the Rate Bill to collect taxes on the Grand List of October 1,2016 with a levy of 11.10 Mills. Said taxes become due on July 1, 2017. If said Real Estate and Personal Property tax is over $100.00, it is payable in four installments due: July 1, 2017, October 1, 2017, January 1, 2018, April 1, 2018. Motor Vehicle tax shall be paid in one installment due: July 1, 2017. Payments must be received or postmarked by August 1, 2017.  If said Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicle taxes are not paid on or before August 1, 2017 interest at the rate of one and one half percent (18% per year) will be added for each month or a fraction thereof which elapses from the time when such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid. The minimum interest charge is $2.00.Taxes can be paid by mail addressed to: Tax Collector, PO Box 338, Salisbury CT 06068 or at the Town Hall in Salisbury CT on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

TOWN OF KENT

The first installment of the Real Estate, Personal Property and the Motor Vehicle tax for the Grand List of 2016 is due and payable July 1, 2017. The first installment of the Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicle tax for the Grand List of 2016 will become delinquent on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.

As soon as the tax becomes delinquent, it shall be subject to interest at the rate of one and a half percent per month from the time such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid.

Bills may be viewed on line by going to the Tax Collector’s page of the Town of Kent website at www.townofkentct.org.

The Tax Collector’s office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during the month of July. Payment is also welcome through the mail at P. O. Box 311, Kent, Connecticut 06757.

TOWN OF CORNWALL

NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS

Pursuant to Section 12-145 of the Connecticut General Statutes, notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the TOWN OF CORNWALL that the first half payment on the Grand List of October 1, 2016 is due July 1, 2017.

Taxes not in excess of one hundred dollars and Motor Vehicle taxes shall be due and payable in FULL during July 2017.

If tax payment is not paid on or before August 1, 2017, said tax will become delinquent as of that date and subject to interest at the rate of ONE AND ONE-HALF percent per month or fraction thereof from July 1, 2017 until tax is paid.  The minimum interest charge is $2.00.

PUBLIC HEARING OF PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

ON CHANGES IN ZONING REGULATIONS

The Town of Salisbury Planning & Zoning Commission of Salisbury CT will hold a Public Hearing in the upstairs meeting room of the Salisbury Town Hall on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 6:45 PM on the following:

Section 308 – Maximum Impervious Surface Proposed Changes:

IMPERVIOUS SURFACE: Any material that alters, reduces or prevents the infiltration andrenovation of storm water into undeveloped land.

In the LA zone, the maximum total impervious on a lot shall be 20%, except for that portion of the LA zone in a Lake Protection Overlay District which shall be 10%.

Section 404 – Lake Protection Overlay District and four (4) definitions added or amended to the appendix definitions section which include:  EUTROPHICATION, IMPERVIOUS SURFACE, STORMWATER INFILTRATION and STORMWATER RENOVATION.

At this hearing, interested persons may appear and be heard and written communications will be received.  Copies of the proposed changes are on file in the office of the Town Clerk and the Land Use Office.

The HVRHS boys rejoice around Jackson McAvoy after he scored the game-winning goal against Shepaug with just two minutes left to play.

WASHINGTON — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s boys varsity soccer team advanced to the Berkshire League tournament final after a 1-0 win over Shepaug Valley High School in the semifinal game on Friday, Oct. 24.

Jackson McAvoy scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes remaining.

School spirit on the rise at Housy

Students dressed in neon lined the soccer field for senior night under the lights on Thursday, Oct. 16. The game against Lakeview was the last in a series of competitions Thursday night in celebration of Homecoming 2025.

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.
