Mark William Lundeen

FALLS VILLAGE — Mark William Lundeen blessed everyone around him with his infectious smile, ever-present laugh and infinite joy, for a beautiful 29 years. 

Born April 18, 1987, he passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on Sept. 8, 2016. 

Anyone who had the privilege to know Mark will understand that it seems almost silly to try to capture his personality in words. He was the perfect husband, son, brother and best friend, and approached everyone he met and all situations encountered with immeasurable joy and love.

Mark was one of those people who was able to improve the lives of all those who surrounded him. Everything and everyone he touched shined a little brighter. 

Mark graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 2005, and received a bachelor’s degree in business from Green Mountain College in Vermont in 2009. 

While in Vermont, Mark played on the tennis team, enjoyed skiing, and spent ample time outdoors.

After graduating, Mark took his love for nature and strong work ethic and began Lundeen Brothers Landscaping with his brother, Stephen. Mark had a passion for landscaping and gardening. He was in his element among the plants, soil and sunshine. It was one of Mark’s ways of creating beauty and sharing the love that emanated from every ounce of him. 

Mark is survived by his wife, Katie Askinazi; his parents, Bill and Karen Lundeen; his brothers, Bryan, John and Stephen Lundeen; his grandparents, Russell and Norma Bartholomew; his uncles and aunts, Peter and Tammie Lundeen, Linda and John Estabrook, Bob and Nora Lundeen, and many cousins and close friends. 

Mark’s gift to us is far greater than can ever be written. May we all embrace the joy and love that exuded from him, carry it within us, and share it with those around us. For life is beautiful, and life is love. 

Mark’s family would like to thank everyone at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Salisbury Visiting Nurse Association for taking care of Mark with such excellence and compassion.

We would also like to thank everyone involved with the Jane Lloyd Fund, for their dedication and generosity to our family, and many others affected by cancer.
