Mildred E. Coffey

WINSTED — Mildred E. Coffey, 99, of Pratt Street, died May 8, 2010.

Born in Winsted May 2, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Anna (McGrane) and Patrick Coffey. She had lived here all of her life.

Prior to her retirement, she worked at the former Winsted Savings Bank for 25 years and previously for the Hartford Farm Bureau and the Winsted Citizen. She attended The Gilbert School and the Morse School of Business. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and a member of the Catholic Woman’s Club, Winsted Senior Citizens and American Association of Retired Persons.

Her survivors include a sister, Marguerite Reinhardt of Winsted; two nieces, Anne Reinhardt-Peck and her husband, Larry, and their son, Joshua, of Winsted and Maureen Benedict and her husband, Gerry, and their children, Hillary McDowell and Heather Benedict, of Florida; a great-niece, Kimberly Akerley; great-nephew, Christopher Reinhardt; great-great-nieces, Emma and Charli McDowell; and great-great-nephews, Tyler and Gregory Akerley and Jeremy Benedict. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Finnegan, in 1992; and two nephews and a niece, Joseph, Gregory and Sue Reinhardt.

Funeral services were held May 12 at St. Joseph Church, Winsted. Burial was to be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony School, in care of St. Joseph Church, PO Box 808, Winsted, CT 06098. FALLS VILLAGE — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s boys basketball team defeated Pine Plains High School 60-22 in a scrimmage Tuesday, Dec. 9. The non-league preseason game gave both sides an opportunity to run the court ahead of the 2025-26 varsity season.

HVRHS’s senior-heavy roster played with power and poise. The boys pulled ahead early and kept their foot on the gas through to the end.

KENT — Santa’s elves were toasty warm as they collected toys for the children of Kent.

Keeping with annual tradition, Fran Goodsell and Karen Iannucci manned the Stuff a Truck campaign sponsored by the Kent Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, Dec. 6, and Sunday, Dec. 7. Sitting in front of a fire pit in the firehouse parking lot between donations from residents, they spoke of the incredible generosity displayed every season. That spirit of giving was clear from the piles of toys heaped on a table.
