Nemo finds a free movie night at Rowley Field

WINSTED — Winsted’s Recreation  Department sponsored the first free movie night at Rowley Field on Wednesday, Aug. 12, screening the film “Finding Nemo.” Despite the slight drizzle, a large turnout watched the film under the stars.

Tanya Risucci and Ray Rabago coordinated the event.

“This is the first time we’ve done this,” Rissucci said. “Ray and I were talking about this at a couple of board meetings, we saw that other towns were doing it, so we just figured that we’d give it a shot. We thought it would be a good way to get the community together, something to bring people out.”

Attendee Gene Madden and her grandchildren said they were very excited to get to see “Finding Nemo” on the big screen.

“I haven’t even seen it yet,” Madden said.

Ray Rabago was also very pleased with the outcome of the evening.

“Our first movie night had a great turnout with lots of people attending,” Rabago said. Rabago and Rissuci mentioned that there will be another free movie event in September, at Rowley field, but the date is to be announced. He added, “I believe we had around 80 this time around. With the feedback I received from our first one, I believe we will have twice as many people attend the next one in September. I want to thank all the people who showed up as well as Film Force for doing a great job of playing the movie.”
