Next stop, Salisbury, for Cornell Glee Club

SALISBURY — The Cornell Glee Club included the Northwest Corner on its latest tour.

On Friday, Jan. 16, the group held a workshop with students at Housatonic Valley Regional High School (followed by a concert).

At 3 p.m. the group did a show at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, and another show Friday evening at the Salisbury Congregational Church.

That Salisbury and Falls Village were sandwiched between somewhat larger locations (New York City and Boston) was no accident. The tour manager for the Cornell Glee Club is sophomore Becket Harney of Salisbury.

His mother, Sharon Brisnehan, introduced the group at Noble — including her son, whom she referred to as “that little guy back there.”

Director Robert Isaacs said he has been with the Glee Club for about a year and a half. He is a professor of music and runs the choral program at Cornell.

He said he was very glad to have Harney on board, both as a singer and tour manager.

“He’s a great kid,” Isaacs said. “They are all great.”

Harney said the workshop at the high school was a success.

“The kids were really focused,” he said.

He said getting into the Glee Club isn’t easy. “There are two auditions. You really have to know what you’re doing.”
