Richard G. Arnold

KENT — Richard G. Arnold of New Milford died on Feb. 2, 2009. He was the husband of Joyce B. Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy and was the proprietor of the Kent Pharmacy for more than 25 years.

He was an avid golfer and former member of the Lake Waramaug and Heritage Village country clubs.

He was also a lifetime member of the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by two sons, Kurt Arnold of West Hartford and Douglas Arnold of Otis, Mass., and his wife, Glynis;  a daughter, Karen Volinski, and her husband, Jack, of Avon; and two grandchildren, Mark and Kristen Volinski.

Services will be held Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Kent.  Arrangements are under the care of Hull Funeral Service in New Milford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Church Street Station, PO Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780; or the Animal Welfare Society of New Milford, 8 Dodd Road, New Milford, CT 06776.

Housy boys defeat Shepaug 1-0 in BL tournament semifinal

WASHINGTON — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s boys varsity soccer team advanced to the Berkshire League tournament final after a 1-0 win over Shepaug Valley High School in the semifinal game on Friday, Oct. 24.

Jackson McAvoy scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes remaining.

School spirit on the rise at Housy

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.
