History is made at Lime Rock Park ... again

LIME ROCK — It was a successful Labor Day weekend at Lime Rock Park — especially Sunday’s combination of the concours of classic, vintage and rare cars (and motorcycles), the Taste of the Litchfield Hills food festival, and free admission to area residents on Sunday afternoon.

Lime Rock public relations official Rick Roso said he didn’t have the attendance numbers at press time, but he believed “we exceeded expectations.

“Not only did our regular fans enjoy having access to what, in effect, was a top-notch food court, he said, “but we saw a lot of people who hadn’t been to Lime Rock Park before; they were here for A Taste, yet got to experience what the track was all about, too.

The classic car exhibition was, to the layman, a little overwhelming, with multiple categories and highly technical conversations between car owners and fans.

But it was hard to avoid daydreaming about taking a Sunday drive in the sleek 1949 Foose Ford owned by Skip North of Millerton — a sleek, jazzy-looking machine.

Or wondering what on earth all the levers and pedals on a 1914 Mercer Raceabout (owned by Joe Freeman of Boston) are for.

And the honest-to-goodness Good Humor truck (an old Ford 250), complete with ice cream (including the one with the chocolate bar at the center) proved completely irresistable.

Students dressed in neon lined the soccer field for senior night under the lights on Thursday, Oct. 16. The game against Lakeview was the last in a series of competitions Thursday night in celebration of Homecoming 2025.

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.
