Victorian Tea fundraiser May 15

PINE PLAINS — The Friends of the Pine Plains Library will hold a Victorian Tea at the Mashomack Fish and Game Preserve on Sunday, May 15, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Mashomack is at 7435 Route 82, 1.7 miles south of the intersection of routes 82 and 199.Tickets are $32 and can be purchased at four locations in town: the library, the pharmacy, Deuel’s Hardware and Hammertown Barn. Mashomack is donating not only its facilities, but also items for the event. Harney and Sons Fine Teas is donating the tea and Ronnybrook Dairy is donating the clotted cream.This is the event’s second year; last year’s earnings went toward an antique cabinet for materials. This year the money raised will go toward buying new materials, including books and CDs.For more information on the Victorian Tea, call publicity chair Lois Lenehan at 413-446-9235.

Housy boys defeat Shepaug 1-0 in BL tournament semifinal

WASHINGTON — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s boys varsity soccer team advanced to the Berkshire League tournament final after a 1-0 win over Shepaug Valley High School in the semifinal game on Friday, Oct. 24.

Jackson McAvoy scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes remaining.

School spirit on the rise at Housy

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.
