Nutmeg Potters here for a year

WINSTED — In June, Nutmeg Potterscelebrated its first anniversary under new ownership.

The store, located at 386 Main St.,  was founded in December 2013 by Deb McNulty, but a year ago was taken over by seven former students of McNulty.

“Our founder was whisked away to Hawaii for her job,” Pam Polderman said. “That was when our LLC took over a year ago. We’ve tied our celebration in with one for the Health Food Corner, and together we had a sidewalk sale. We’ve also joined with Friends of Main Street and will be participating in the third Sunday Sidewalk Sales for July and August, which are outside our normal operation hours.”

Polderman said the store will have a sale on pieces made by some of the partners of the store, including Jack and Kathy Donohue, along with Deb Angell.

“While we’ve only been in this location for a year, we have all been together for many years as a group,” Angell said.  “Everyone plays their roles. I do the books and wash the windows, Pam takes care of the kiln, and Jack and Kathy make our glazes. Mostly we like each other’s company and all work well together.”

“The space is also open for pottery classes given by Amy Richardson by appointment,” Polderman added “It can be for larger groups or more intimate ones.”
