Ida J. (Dennis) Von Richthofen

NORTH CANAAN — Ida J. (Dennis) Von Richthofen of North Canaan passed away April 2, 2020, at Sharon Health Care Center after a long battle with multiple health issues.

She was born in Sharon on Feb. 27, 1944, to the late Edward Dennis and Cora Kline.

Ida was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Class of 1962.

She later went on to be a tax assessor for the town of Salisbury and a switchboard operator for Sharon Hospital.

Ida was a great many things. The most important title she held was Choo Choo Grannie.

Ida is survived by her son, Scott A. Von Richthofen; her daughter-in-law, Ashley L. Von Richthofen; and her Peanut, her grandson Evan S. Von Richthofen. She also leaves behind her beloved niece, Roxanne Pulver; and her very dear friend, Mark Williams.

There will be no services,  by request of Ida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230 toward a scholarship for her grandson, Evan S. Von Richthofen.

NORTH CANAAN — Sue Ann Miller Plain, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed away on May 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Sue Ann faced her illness with incredible strength, grace, and determination, never losing her spirit or her love for those around her.

Sue Ann was born on April 21, 1957, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She lived in North Canaan for 50 years where she built lasting friendships and began a life rooted in community and family.

Joan Anderson Turnure

SALISBURY — Joan Anderson Turnure, 91, died after a long illness on May 3, 2025, at Noble Horizons in Salisbury. She was the loving widow of Michael DeBurbure Turnure.

Joan was born July 29, 1933, in Mexico City, Mexico, the daughter of the late Lawrence Anderson and Barbara (Ryan) Anderson. She grew up in Mexico and Maryland, later attending the Shipley School in Pennsylvania and earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from Vassar College.
