Pellegrino Joseph ‘P.J.’ Sorice

ANCRAMDALE — Pellegrino Joseph “P.J.” Sorice, beloved husband, son and brother, died unexpectedly on Jan. 16, 2015, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, N.Y. He was 34.The son of Linda (Shurter) Sorice and the late Giuseppe Sorice, P.J. was born on Jan.19, 1980, in Middletown, N.Y. He grew up in Middletown and at the age of 14 suffered a spinal cord injury that left him wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. When P.J. met Jessica Morey, she became his life partner, best friend and champion advocate. P.J. and Jessica were married on Aug. 25, 2007, at Christian Faith Fellowship Family Church.In addition to his devoted and loving wife, Jessica, at home in Ancramdale, P.J. is survived by his mother, Linda Sorice; one brother, Guiseppe; several aunts, uncles, many cousins and four nephews, Dustin, Darren, Jace and Jaxen.He was predeceased by his sister, Maria, in 2009; his father, Giuseppe, in 2010; and his grandparents, Pellegrino and Francesca Sorice.Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., in Middletown, N.Y. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday evening. Cremation will be private.A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. at Faith Bible Chapel of Shekomeko, 222 Silver Mountain Road, in Millerton, the Rev. William Mayhew officating. A reception will follow at the chapel.
