Pine Plains varsity girls basketball

As the summer season begins, we are revisiting and summarizing some of the ongoing issues that have captured our attention during the past year.

PINE PLAINS — The Stissing Mountain High School varsity girls basketball team made several school firsts on its way to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Class C semifinals in March.

The Bombers fell 49-39 to Northern Adirondack in that game.

The team defeated Pierson/Bridgehampton, 45-35,  in a NYSPHSAA regional final and Haldane, 59-58, in overtime, in the semifinals before that.

Pine Plains won its NYSPHSAA Section 9 championship against Chester Academy, 25-38.

The sectional and regional titles are firsts for varsity girls basketball in Pine Plains school history.

The Bombers finished the year 15-8 overall and 4-1 in the post-season.
