Sharon bridge scores

There were seven full tables for duplicate bridge on May 4 at Good Neighbors on Low Road in Sharon. It was a dreary rainy day, a good day to be inside with friends. We played four boards a round, so all pairs played 28 boards. The average score was 84. The winners: For North South pairs, in first with 109 points (64.88 percent) were Carol Magowan and Seth Milliken; in second with 94.5 points (56.25 percent) were Trish Stimpson and George Mason, and in third with 83.5 points (49.7 percent) were Doris Reeves and Harry Hall. For East West pairs, in first with 102.5 points (61.01 percent) were Jim Palmer and Rusty Chandler; in second with 96 points (57.14 percent) were Wendy Summer and John Bevan, and in third with 91 points (54.17 percent) were Sue Lynch and Judy Swanson. There were eight full tables for duplicate bridge at Great Neighbors on Wednesday, May 18, a dreary afternoon, good for playing bridge. We played four boards a round, so 32 boards were in play. We had a skip after four rounds and all pairs played 28 boards. The average score was 84. The winners: For North South pairs, in first with 99 points (58.93 percent) were Norma Bartholomew and Tom Burke; in second with 97.5 points (58.04 percent) were Emily and Billy Saster, and in third with 94 points (55.95 percent) were Trish Stimpson and Harry Hall. For East West pairs, in first with 103.5 points (61.61 percent) were Wendy Summer and Ken Clark; in second with 94 points (55.95 percent ) were Kit Kellogg and Lilly Beck, and in third with 91 points (54.17 percent) were Lull McGrath and Jim Palmer.

FALLS VILLAGE — Housatonic Valley Regional High School girls lacrosse kept rolling Tuesday, May 6, with a decisive 18-6 win over Lakeview High School.

Eight different players scored for Housatonic in the Northwest Corner rivalry matchup. Sophomore Georgie Clayton led the team with five goals.

Troutbeck Symposium 2025: the latest chapter in continuing a vital legacy

Students and educators from throughout the region converged at Troutbeck in Amenia for a three-day conference to present historical research projects undertaken collaboratively by students with a common focus on original research into their chosen topics. Area independent schools and public schools participated in the conference that extended from Wednesday, April 30 to Friday, May 2.

The symposium continues the Troutbeck legacy as a decades-old gathering place for pioneers in social justice and reform. Today it is a destination luxury country inn, but Troutbeck remains conscious of its significant place in history.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Roaring Oaks Florist in Lakeville has launched a new self-serve flower station next to its Main Street shop, offering high-quality, grab-and-go bouquets from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week — including Sundays when the main store is closed.

Owner Terence S. Miller, who bought the shop 24 years ago at just 20 years old, calls the new feature “a modern twist on an old-school honor system,” with some high-tech updates.
