Shopping in Cornwall is a moveable feast

CORNWALL — As always during the holiday season, there are plentiful local shopping options — including many that feature made in the U.S. and made in the Northwest Corner items. The Wandering Moose Café & Catering Company, next to the Covered Bridge, is a West Cornwall landmark. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Aside from holiday dining (it’s always a treat to go out at this cooking-intensive time of year), gift certificates are available. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner is served Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The restaurant is closed Mondays. Owner Bianca Griggs said many of the items in the stores are made in the United States. The shop has women’s clothing made in California, glass decorations and drinking glasses by Nunwell Glass in Connecticut and many other decorative and art items from the area. For the holiday season, hours are Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gift certificates are available. The store offers 99 brands of beer, including well-known and craft domestic brews. There is a free wine tasting every Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. Gift certificates are available.
