SSRRA building committee dissolved, will be reconstituted

SHARON — The Salisbury-Sharon Resource Recovery Authority (SSRRA) dissolved the recently appointed building committee for the new transfer station at a special meeting Tuesday, April 5, at Sharon Town Hall. The building committee members had been announced at a meeting Thursday, March 17. Mike Flint of Lakeville was not selected for the building committee, and in an email to Salisbury First Selectman Curtis Rand (who is the chairman of the SSRRA; Sharon First Selectman Bob Loucks is vice chairman) Flint criticized the selection process and questioned whether his rejection was politically motivated.Flint also spoke about the matter at some length on his Sunday morning commentary show on CATV-6, “Straight Talk.”At the April 5 meeting, Rand began by asking the members what they wanted to do about the controversy.SSRRA member Charlie Kelley said the authority should “acknowledge that a mistake was made” and moved that the appointments be rescinded “without prejudice, to allow any interviews that may have been overlooked to proceed.”Member Bob Palmer suggested that Salisbury resident and SSRRA member Ed Reagan handle any interviews of additional candidates from Sharon, and Tom Bartram of Sharon do the same for Salisbury candidates. That was added to the motion, which passed, unanimously. Attending the meeting were SSRRA members and town officials Rand, Kelley, Palmer, Reagan, Loucks, Bill Braislin and Malcolm Brown.Flint was the lone member of the audience.
