Stephanie Ewing-Darcy

LAKEVILLE — Stephanie Ewing-Darcy, 67, died Sept. 20, 2013. She was the daughter of Helen (Coapman) and Douglas Hancock Ewing. She was born May 23, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa. She considered the Northwest Corner of Connecticut to be home for much of her life. After attending Chatham Hall School in Chatham, N.Y., she trained as a conservator of works-on-paper, acquiring much practical experience in Florence, Italy, after the floods of 1966. She established her own business in New York by the time she was 23. She spent much of her life in the United Kingdom, returning to Lakeville following the death of her husband, James Darcy, in the mid-1990s. She re-established her studio, where she continued to work until disabled by ill-health.She is survived by two nephews, Douglas and Philip Ewing; and a sister-in-law, Birgitta Ewing, of Stockholm, Sweden. Memorial donations may be made to the Little Guild of St. Francis or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Kanab, Utah. Funeral arrangements are private.
