LAKEVILLE — The Black and Hispanic Student Alliance (BaHSA) of The Hotchkiss School is being recognized for its work by the awarding of a Certificate of Accomplishment from the Princeton Prize in Race Relations. Patricia Redd Johnson, senior associate dean of admissions and advisor to BaHSA, learned of the award in March, when she was contacted by Paul A. Myerson, chairman of the Princeton Prize Committee of Connecticut.
The Princeton Prize in Race Relations was established by Princeton University to promote harmony, understanding and respect among people of different races by identifying and recognizing high school age students whose efforts have had a significant, positive effect on race relations in their schools or communities.
Members of the board of BaHSA for 2007-08 are: Ofori-kwafo Amponsah’09, Imani Bentham’09, Jasmine Gore’08, Z’hara Green’08, Cameron Hough’09, Brandon Joseph’08, Genay Kirkpatrick’08, Kylene Ramos’08 and Cameron Willis’09.
Students from BaHSA will be presented with the award at an event April 24 in New Haven. Head of School Malcolm McKenzie will accompany them to New Haven, along with Johnson and Director of Health Services Nancy Bird, who works with BaHSA on its annual Martin Luther King Day program.
