AMENIA — As the town continues to make progress in constructing a bicycle trail path from the hamlet of Wassaic to the Wassaic Metro-North Train Station, the Amenia Town Board will be on the lookout for new bids for the project, rejecting the ones previously received at a meeting on Thursday, March 21.
According to the resolution passed to reject the bids, specifications were prepared and bids for the work for the bicycle trail path’s construction were solicited by Project Manager Daniel Briar from the engineering company WSP USA. As a result, two bids were received and opened on Wednesday, March 13. However, because the bid wasn’t posted on the Empire State Purchasing Group as required by Dutchess County, the board determined that one of the bids didn’t meet the county’s bidding requirements.
“One of the bidders did not have all of the credentials necessary to even do the bid,” explained Amenia town Supervisor Victoria Perotti. “Since there was only one other bid, we thought it would be better to do the bid process over.”
After rejecting all bids received on Wednesday, March 13, the board authorized Briar to re-bid the specifications for the bicycle path’s construction and to solicit new bids for the project in accordance with the provisions for all state and county requirements. The resolution passed with a majority vote.
