Village looks ahead, holds ‘reorg’ meeting

MILLBROOK — The Village of Millbrook Board of Trustees gathered for its annual organizational meeting on Monday, Jan. 5. The “reorg,” as it’s called, is part of the village’s annual protocol to make appointments and to address various housekeeping issues for the year ahead. This village typically sets it reorg at the earliest possible time following the first of the year.In attendance were Mayor Laura Hurley, Deputy Mayor Joseph J. Spagnola Jr., Trustees Timothy Collopy, Michael Herzog and Rodney Brown. Spagnola, Collopy and Brown were all sworn into office. Brown will be serving his first term as councilman. The Bank of Millbrook was named as the official depository.Legal council will continue to be provided by Van de Water & Van de Water. The town of Washington was chosen for snow removal/highway services assistance. The Poughkeepsie Journal was chosen as the official newspaper. Ted Eglit was named as village accountant, and Hurley was authorized to secure his services.Chairman of the Planning and Board will be Stanley Morris. Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will be Joel Diemond.Ken McLaughlin was appointed as building inspector/code enforcement officer for administrative and zoning matters.

FALLS VILLAGE — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s girls soccer team is headed to the semifinals of the state tournament.

The Mountaineers are the highest seeded team of the four schools remaining in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class S playoff bracket.
