Washington's 2010 budget to be voted on tonight

WASHINGTON — The town of Washington’s final public hearing on the budget is Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. All residents are invited to participate.

The first budget review occurred, as required by law, on Nov. 5, the Thursday after Election Day. Since only one town resident showed up representing the public, the board decided to include the final budget approval in its regular monthly meeting. This approach will provide voters with another opportunity to participate in the town’s 2010 budget discussions.

Residents can learn about the fiscal condition of the town and its budgetary outlook for 2010 and comment publicly before the final vote by the board.

The students learned about the destructive impact of invasives as they trudged — often bent over — across wet ground on the semblance of a trail, led by Tom Zetterstrom, a North Canaan tree preservationist and member of the Sharon Land Trust.
