DOVER PLAINS — On Saturday, March 16, Environmental Conservation Officer (ECO) Zach Crain from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) responded to a report of an injured bald eagle at Brookby Farm in Dover Plains.
According to Brookby Farm owner Jaime Vincent, the farm learned from a couple of customers that a bald eagle had been hit by a car and had landed at the farm, though the eagle was nowhere to be found. Once the eagle was located in one of the farm’s fields, Vincent and her husband, Steven, reached out to the NYSDEC.
With assistance by Steven Vincent, Crain eventually captured the eagle and transported it to Green Chimneys Wildlife and Education Center in Brewster. According to the NYSDEC, it was determined that the eagle is a full-grown adult female that had likely suffered a fracture in its right wing. The eagle is currently being cared for at Green Chimneys and will be released back into the wild when it regains its full strength.
