Dorothy Helen Twing

FALLS VILLAGE — Dorothy Helen Twing, 101, died peacefully on May 31, 2019, at Geer.

She was born in 1917 in Cornwall Hollow, Conn., to Carrie and Eber Yale. She married Albert Twing in 1937 and lived most of her life in Falls Village. Albert preceded her in death in 2001. 

Dorothy enjoyed being a farmer’s wife and homemaker. She had the gift of entertaining and often hosted gatherings at her home. She was famous in the area for her baked goods, coleslaw and baked beans. 

She also served on the Falls Village Woman’s Auxiliary for many years.  

Dorothy was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Judith Rinaldi and her husband, Joseph, of Falls Village; and a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, Jean and her husband, Craig West, of Middletown, Conn., James Rinaldi and his wife, Christine, of Cedarville, Ohio, Julie Latina and her husband, Paul, of Falls Village and Joanna Pheasant and her husband, Jeremy, of Haydenville, Mass. She also treasured being a great-grandmother to Ryanne Rinaldi, Ryder Rinaldi, Isabelle Latina and Anthony Latina.  

Dorothy was predeceased by her eight siblings, Raymond, Clara, Charlotte, Richard, Esther, Evelyn, Elizabeth and Gordon.  

Friends may call on Friday, June 7, at Montano Shea Funeral Home in Winsted from 10 to 11 a.m., with a brief service at 11 a.m.  Burial will be private at Norfolk Center Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Falls Village Fire Department, 188 US-7S, Falls Village, CT 06031.

FALLS VILLAGE — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s girls soccer team is headed to the semifinals of the state tournament.

The Mountaineers are the highest seeded team of the four schools remaining in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class S playoff bracket.
