Dr. Yvonne Imbleau

SALISBURY — Dr. Yvonne Imbleau, 88, the eldest of three Imbleau daughters, died on Aug. 10, 2016, at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, surrounded by her beloved caregivers and friends.

She was born in Summit, N.J., on May 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Helen (Depaoli) and Joseph Imbleau.

After graduating from college at McGill University in Quebec, Canada, she began her life of selfless service as an obstetrician in the poorest areas of Africa, delivering hundreds of babies into the world.

After an illness forced her return to the U.S., she continued her mission of providing for the needy by offering her services to women and children in Appalachia for many years.

After her retirement and move back to New Jersey, her sister Valerie eventually brought her to Noble Horizons, where she delighted in the daily visits of her sister, her relationships with the special caregivers who entered her life and visits from lifelong friends and new acquaintances, young and old, human and canine. Her special love of babies, children and canine friends continued throughout her whole life. She loved nature, animals and birds and displayed many abilities including playing the piano and artistic talent.

Dr. Imbleau touched countless lives throughout her own and will be missed by many.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mary’s Church in Lakeville on Aug. 16. For a full obituary, go to www.kennyfuneralhomes.com.

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

But what can be attributed to this sudden peak of student interest? That’s largely due to SGA. Also known as the Student Government Association, SGA has dedicated itself to creating events to bring the entire student body together. This year, they decided to change some traditions.

The weekend of Homecoming at HVRHS was packed with events including rival games under the lights, senior night, and a new take on Homecoming that moves it outside — and it wouldn’t have been possible without the students of Housatonic.

Orchestrating was no easy feat, especially considering much of the work was left up to the students.
