Elks Club holds benefit bake sale

Members of the Winsted Elks Club No. 844 held a bake sale outside of Tractor Supply store on Saturday, March 22. According to organizer Kelly Mallette, the sale was a benefit for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. “Donating to the Medical Center is a major project for Elks Clubs across the state,” Malette said. “Our goal for all of the lodges across the state is to raise at least $100,000.” Lodge member Brian Machowski said there is a real need for financial support for the center, which is located in Hartford. “It is up to us to help them because they help out children in the state,” Machowski said. “No matter how much this bake sale raises, the state Elks Lodge will donate $100,000 raised through projects and donations from lodges across the state.”
