The end of a tremendous season Bombers varsity track loses state qualifiers

PINE PLAINS — After an outstanding season on the track, the Pine Plains varsity spring track team completed its season competing in the annual Class D Section IX Division IV State Qualifiers meet on Thursday, May 30, through Friday, May 31.

This year’s state qualifiers were held at the Faller Field Complex at Middletown High School. Among the team’s memorable performances, Bryce and Kyle Stracher, Joe Krimmer and Christian Aldana came in fourth place running in the 4 x 100 relay. Aldana also placed seventh in the 200 meter dash while Krimmer came in eighth place in the 400 meter dash. Kyle Stracher finished the 100 meter dash in fifth place while Bryce Stracher came in seventh place in the 100 meter dash and eighth place in the long jump.

On the girls track team, Autumn Prezzano finished the 100 meter hurdles in seventh place while Madison Michetti came in eighth place in the 100 meter dash. For the 4 x 100 relay race, Emily Mason, Samantha Haines, and Madison and Meredith Michetti finished the race in sixth place.

Now that the team has reached the end of the 2018-19 season, Pine Plains Coach Jeremy Weber couldn’t have spoken more highly of his athletes and their endeavors this season.

“We had a tremendous amount of success this year,” Weber praised. “We will definitely miss all of our seniors as they have contributed so much to the program for many years. We are also excited for next year and all of our athletes who have so much potential.”

FALLS VILLAGE — Housatonic Valley Regional High School’s girls soccer team is headed to the semifinals of the state tournament.

The Mountaineers are the highest seeded team of the four schools remaining in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class S playoff bracket.
