SALISBURY — The Scoville memorial Library was packed on Saturday afternoon, July 18, for the start of the Campaign to Connect fundraising effort for the library renovation.
Board President Noel Sloan introduced Pilar Proffit and Rob Bristow of Poesis Design, who have created the plans for a significant redesign of the library — most notably, a new children’s library downstairs, the conversion of the the current children’s area back to a reading room and a staircase connecting the two levels. Proffit and Bristow are Salisbury residents.
Sloan told the crowd that the Scoville Memorial Library is the busiest small-town library in the state. In the last year, the library loaned 75,000 items; 8,000 people attended programs.
The renovations will cost $1 million — and $650,000 of that has been raised.
The goal of the Campaign to Connect is to raise the additional $350,000.
“A gift to the library is a gift to our wonderful town,” Sloan said.
