German film on location at Village Hall

Millbrook — Three German television movies are currently being filmed around the Hudson Valley area. A scene from one of those films, “Leuchtturm mit Aussicht” (“Lighthouse with a View”), is being filmed at the Village Hall in Millbrook. The film’s location scouts stumbled on the Village Hall by accident.“It’s actually our third year that we have been filming in the greater Hudson Valley area,” said Paul Van Wormer, United States production manager of VW International. “We were filming at a nearby equestrian facility. Our location scouts were in the village and saw the Village Hall and came to the conclusion that the location might work very well for one of our scenes. Some of our location scouting is deliberate; other times we’re driving by and we say, ‘Hey, wait a second, this could work very well.’”The crew was scheduled to film in Millbrook from Sept. 1 to 3, but Wormer said those dates could change. What Wormer called “a significant scene” was to be filmed in the Village Hall. He said the building will be recognizable in the finished movie.Wormer described the movie as a romance.“It’s geared toward adults — it’s basically a romance,” he said. “It’s family-orientated and definitely G-rated, but more along the lines a romantic story as opposed to geared toward children.”“Leuchtturm mit Aussicht” will air in Germany in late winter or early spring. Broadcast dates won’t be set for another few months. It will not air on television in America, nor will it be available online.“It’s really geared toward just European audiences,” said Wormer.He said he doesn’t know if they will film in Millbrook again.“Millbrook has many beautiful locations, which we are very impressed by,” said Wormer. “So there always a possibility. It’s certainly something that we will always consider in the future. But we are very appreciative that the village has been so helpful with our requests and we are certainly looking forward to our time there.”
