Halloween in Millbrook

MILLBROOK — Families filled the streets of the village of Millbrook with ghosts, goblins, princesses and superheroes of every sort on Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31. Many of the adults were costumed as well, and all seemed to be having a wonderful night.

Many businesses were ready for the trick-or-treaters with large bowls of candy. Nooch’s on Church and Rose Randolph Cookies were among those supplying treats, as well as village residents in decorated private homes.

Kerry Weller, president of the Millbrook Library Board, and Margot Peter, library treasurer and board member, wore costumes and manned a table in front of the library with lollipops and glow-in-the-dark bracelets full of spiders and other scary creatures. Every child got a bracelet, candy and a choice of one or more children’s books.

Many of the children seemed more excited about the books than the other treats. Long after the candy is gone and the bracelets are no longer glowing, the children will have their books to read in the coming winter months.

As homecoming week reaches its end and fall sports finish out the season, an air of school spirit and student participation seems to be on the rise across Housatonic Valley Regional High School.
