Iolanda ‘Dolly’ Canevari

MILLERTON — Iolanda “Dolly” Canevari, 94, of Millerton died Oct. 23, 2011, at the Sharon Health Center. She was the daughter of the late Caroline and John Canevari.Miss Canevari was born Feb. 2, 1917, in New York City. She was a telephone operator for the Taconic Telephone Company. She later worked in housekeeping at Olde Mill of Irondale in Millerton.She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorene Canevari; her nieces, Joyce and her husband, John Deveraux, of Chicago, Ill., Rena Wood of Carlsbad, Calif., Eloise and her husband, Kevin Smith, of Millerton, Marva and her husband, Thomas Dahoney, of Millbrook; her great-nieces and -nephews, Eugenia and Edward Welch of Leucedia, Calif., Eugene and Becky Smith of Pine Plains, Corey Smith and Kerry Rooney Smith of Millbrook, and Darlene and Jamie Murphy of Lakeville; and several great-great-nieces and -nephews.She was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, Anthony and Charles Canevari; and five sisters, Helen Canevari, Albena VanDeBogart, Carmela Canevari, Louise Keesler and Edith Wilcoxson.A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 26 at St. Patrick’s Church in Millerton. Burial followed at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the local Alzheimer’s Chapter.The Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon has charge of arrangements.

Following the memorable benefit reading last season of Charles Busch’s Tony-nominated Broadway hit, “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife,” the Sharon Playhouse will present a one-night-only staged reading of his riotous comic melodrama “Die Mommie Die!” on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

The production —a deliciously over-the-top homage to classic Hollywood mid-century thrillers — ­­continues the Playhouse’s artistic partnership with Busch, who reprises his iconic role of the glamorous yet troubled songstress Angela Arden.
