Jamie Wexler

SHARON — Jamie Wexler, 37, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2019, at his home in  Philadelphia, Pa., with his wife by his side.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1981, in Pittsfield, Mass., to Jim and Karin Wexler of Sharon.

In October of 2018, Jamie was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer. He fought a valiant eight month battle, never complaining, and remained positive and optimistic throughout.

Jamie graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School, where he played basketball and tennis and developed a keen interest in cooking and music.

He received his degree in Music Business from Five Towns College in Dix Hills, L.I. As a pioneer in the early mix tape industry he co-founded Tapemasters Inc., which compiled and sold mix tape CDs worldwide. He later went on to become founder and CEO of ThisisRnB, and in 2013 was the recipient of the BET Soul Train Award for best website/blog for today’s RnB music. His site set the stage for global phenomena such as Eric Bolinger, Ro James and Sevgn Streeter to name just a few. He helped many artists get their start and his work is widely recognized and respected by the music industry.

Jamie met and married his college sweetheart, Kadeja, and had two children, August, 4, and Leo, 1. He was a devoted at-home Dad, a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law and grandson and will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. An angel on earth, he left us much too soon but leaves us with his gracious smile and unassuming helpful spirit.

He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Kadeja Wexler; their two sons, August and Leo Wexler; his parents, Jim and Karin Wexler and in-laws Herman and Gayle Carter and Herbert Churn; his sister, Anna Wexler; his sister-in-law, Qyiana Churn; his loving grandmothers, Mae Daub, Dorothy Felske and Pauline Wexler; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

As spoken by a dear old friend from “Housy” and all of us: “Jamie, I want you to know I love you, I admired your courage and your outlook on life. I want to thank you for coming into my life when I needed you most. As a kid from the Bronx coming to a new school in CT. not knowing anyone, I was very nervous and very stressed out until I met you. You have meant so much to my life. I will always cherish our memories. I will never forget you.”

A funeral was held on May 28 at the West Laurel Hill Chapel and Cemetery in Bala Cynwood, Pa.

A celebration to be announced later this summer will be held at his childhood home in Sharon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Housatonic Youth Service Bureau (www.hysb.org).
