John B. Marchi

WINSTED — John B. Marchi, 88, formerly of North Canaan, and Spring Hill, Fla., passed away at his home on Sept. 21, 2019, with his devoted family by his side.   He was the loving husband of Doris (Loucks) Marchi for more than 69 years.
Born in Sandisfield, Mass., on Dec. 14, 1930, John was the son of the late John B. Marchi  Sr. and Pasqualena (Calabrese) Marchi.
He proudly served in the US Navy.
John retired from Allied Grocers after many years of service and was also a former police officer with the Winchester Police Department. He truly was a caring, giving and compassionate person who loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.  He loved traveling, football and poker games. He also loved scratching off lottery tickets and waiting for the big winning ticket.
In addition to his devoted wife, he leaves his daughters, Susan Cummings and her husband, James Metro, Lisa Ackerman, Donna Marchi and her wife, Martha Misten, and Diane Strattman and her husband, Christopher; his grandchildren, Michelle Ackerman Clouser and her husband, Seth, Rebecca Ackerman, Sarah Ackerman, Zachary Ackerman and Alexandra Ackerman; his great-granddaughter, McKenzie Hils; his dog, Gracie Allyn; his sisters, Angeline Lovetere and Esther Chirico; and many beloved nephews and nieces.
John was predeceased by his sons, John B. Marchi III and Michael J. Marchi; his son-in-law, Kalum Cummings; his brothers, Frank Marchi and his wife, Dorothy,  and Peter Marchi  and his wife, Carmela; and his sister, Marion Raydenbow.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Montano-Shea Funeral Home in Winsted from 9 to 11 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Winsted.
