Kent Players make more 'Waves'

KENT— The Kent Players will perform “Radio Waves 2: The Musical on Saturday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Fife ’n’ Drum Restaurant.

The show follows last year’s successful performance of the first “Radio Waves, which was the debut production for the Kent Players.

The musical is written by Eric LaRocca and directed by Sara Bouchard. Her husband, Joe Bouchard, will act as the musical director.

“When we did the first ‘Radio Waves,’ we all made jokes about how it was like ‘High School Musical’ and we should do a ‘2’, Sara Bouchard said. “We talked about how people like musicals and songs, so we decided to make the sequel into a musical. We all know that the restaurant isn’t exactly a theater, but people can eat their dinner and enjoy the show at the same time.

The sequel will include many of the same actors from the first “Radio Waves, including Terry Williams, Jeannette Reiling, Andy Hicks, Terry Tyrell, Linda Kaplan, Bobbie Davis and Blythe Everett.

In the show, radio station WHAT is broadcasting sometime in the late 1940s from a restaurant. During the broadcast, Hollywood dream couple Robert Fletcher and Veronica Sinclair cause a commotion by breaking into frequent lovers quarrels.

In this show, instead of bickering and arguing with just words, they’ll do it in songs.

Through classic popular tunes of the 1940s, including “Anything You Can Do, “Lady Is a Tramp, “You Made Me Love You and “Sentimental Journey, the two battle it out in front of the staff of the station and its listeners.

“Now, I know we will have mistakes during the show because it’s live singing and performing, but that’s the way show business goes, Bouchard said. “I think people will have a wonderful evening.

Tickets for the performance are $50 per person and reservations in advance are required.
