Local daycare raising money for March for Babies

AMENIA — My Little Angels Daycare is preparing for a big May fundraiser, as nearly a dozen walkers will participate in this year’s March for Babies benefit in Hyde Park on May 1 as part of the local business’ team. Daycare owner Denise Clair said she was approached by one of her Angels’ mothers, Amanda Moore, who has participated in the walk before.Millions of people participate in the walkathon every year at more than 1,000 separate events across the country, according to the March of Dimes’ website, the charitable organization that raises money to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature births and infant mortality.Clair said that team T-shirts will be printed with “My Little Angels” on them for participants. There will be at least 10 walkers, and the funds are continuing to roll in. An early goal of $500 has already been reached, and the group will hold a bake sale at Freshtown in Amenia on Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to get the word out.“What better cause?” Clair said. “Rain or shine, we’re looking forward to getting out there and trying to raise some money.”Anybody looking for more information or to donate may go to the team’s website, within the March For Babies website, at www.marchforbabies.org, where donations can be made.
