Margaret A. (Tisserand) ‘Peggy’ Murphy

NORTH CANAAN — Margaret A. (Tisserand) “Peggy” Murphy, 61, of Deely Road died April 23, 2011, at the Winsted Health Center after being stricken at her sister’s memorial service reception. She was the wife of Eugene A. Murphy. Margaret was born Dec. 18, 1949, in Winsted, daughter of the late Hazel (Barnes) and George Tisserand.Margaret was a self-employed certified nursing assistant, practicing throughout the Northwest Corner. She was very involved with the Habitat for Humanity organization, as well as volunteering for Habitat’s This and That shop. She enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking and gardening.In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by her son, Shaun E. Murphy, and his wife, Tracy, of North Canaan; her daughter, Laura L. Perotti of North Canaan; her brother George Tisserand of Winsted; her sisters, Theresa Kelly of Norfolk, Shirley Christinat and Ethel Warner, both of North Canaan; and her grandchildren, Shane R. Murphy, Hillary A. Murphy and Amanda L. Perotti, all of North Canaan. Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Josephine “Jody” Bush.Calling hours will be held at the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan on Friday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in North Canaan. Memorial donations may be sent to the Norfolk Volunteer Ambulance or to Habitat for Humanity.
