McEnroe Organic Farm partners with Buddhi Tribe for community events

MILLERTON — Kicking off their partnership over Memorial Day weekend, McEnroe Organic Farm and Buddhi Tribe teamed up to host a Discovery Garden Yoga Fundraiser on Saturday, May 25, to benefit the farm’s Discovery Garden as well as its educational programming.

In an effort to keep people informed about McEnroe Organic Farm and its work to educate the public about the farm’s sustainable farming techniques and the value of farming, Farm Education Manager Alison Elliott reached out to her friend and Buddhi Tribe owner Kate Shanley in Millerton to collaborate on community activities.

With regards to her decision to contact Buddhi Tribe, Elliot said, “We want our customers to not just visit our market but to stay a while and explore… We hope to promote both of our businesses… and obviously we wanted to fundraise for our education program.”

“We also found a lot of my clients shop at McEnroe,” Shanley said, adding that she’s teamed up with McEnroe Organic Farm to sell products from her own handmade aromatherapy line, Buddhi Witch, at the farm’s market.

Held at Buddhi Tribe, attendees received a raffle ticket along with mimosas and appetizers catered by McEnroe Organic Farm. The farm’s recent efforts to bring live music to McEnroe Organic Farm brought musician Li Sabas outside of Buddhi Tribe, marking his return to performing at McEnroe Organic Farm this year.

At the Buddhi Tribe Apothecary next door, Shanley and Elliott sold raffle tickets for specialized plant and prize baskets. With delicious mimosas in hand, attendees browsed the fragrant baskets of herbs and products and nibbled on lox sandwiches, beet bites and pinwheel wraps from the farm. To keep everyone’s interest, the raffle was held at Buddhi Tribe from Saturday until Memorial Day on Monday, May 27.

Shanley announced that she will be at the farm throughout the summer as a yoga instructor at the Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 15, and at the Tomato Festival on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Located at 5409 Route 22 in Millerton, Shanley will be leading several sessions of Sunrise Yoga in the farm’s Discovery Garden this year. Open to all yoga levels, participants are invited to bring their own mat to the farm at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 14 and 28; Friday, July 12 and 26; Friday, Aug. 9 and 23; and Friday, Sept. 6 and 20. Admission has been priced at $15 per person and participants will receive 15% off their purchase at the farm market after class.

“It’s been really awesome,” Elliott said about her partnership with Shanley. “It’s been really successful so far.”
