MILLERTON — The Village Board utilized part of its meeting on Monday, March 25, to reviewing the budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year, marking the calendar with dates.
The board went over the budget line-by-line to determine what could be trimmed while making sure it has the funds necessary for running the village. In order to stay below the allowed tax cap of 2 percent, the board had to reduce the budget’s contingency line from $12,000 to $5,235.
As of now, the general fund of the tentative budget totals $703,423 while the water fund totals $304,603.
Throughout its review, the board acknowledged that it wasn’t working with a final version of the budget.
Coming up this month, board members agreed to organize a public hearing on the budget on Monday, April 15, at 7:05 p.m. The board must adopt a final version of the budget on or before Wednesday, May 1.
The Village Board will hold its next workshop meeting on Monday, April 8, at 5 p.m. The next regular board meeting will take place on Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m.
